Grace Brylinski

Grace Brylinski is a passionate pianist, collaborator, and piano teacher. She has performed as a soloist and ensemble member in venues throughout the United States and Europe including St. Martin de Vesubie in La Bolline, France, St. Cecelia’s Music Center in Grand Rapids, Kresge Hall at Carnegie Mellon University, and Yardley Hall in Kansas City. She was awarded First Honorable Mention for her performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue at Grand Valley State University's concerto competition in 2018 and was nominated for the prestigious Alexander Calder Arts Scholarship the same year. 

 

As a collaborator, Grace has appeared in large ensembles such as the Grand Valley State University Orchestra and the Carnegie Mellon Contemporary Music Ensemble. She has also worked extensively in duos and chamber groups and specializes in collaboration with the clarinet and oboe. Grace played with the clarinet, violin, and piano trio, Carina Trio throughout 2020-2022, with whom she attended the Heartland Chamber Music Festival in Kansas City and the Zodiac Festival in La Bolline, France. She is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration and has worked as a ballet accompanist since 2021. Currently, she works accompanying dancers at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School and accompanies instrumentalists throughout the Seattle area for performances, auditions, and recordings.

Grace teaches a thriving piano studio based in Capitol Hill, Seattle. Over the past 6 years, she has taught over 50 students with ages ranging from 5 to 75. In lessons, she focuses on listening to the body and releasing tension in order to create a foundation of healthy technique. Private students receive an education grounded in classical music and technique but are also introduced to music of other genres and pieces by underrepresented composers. 

Grace holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Certificate of Piano Pedagogy from Grand Valley State University. She completed her Master of Music in Instrumental Collaborative Piano from Carnegie Mellon University in 2021. Principal teachers have included Dr. Helen Marlais, Prof. Luz Manriquez, and Prof. Rodrigo Ojeda.
